The 2024/25 fi nancial year was a transition period from the 6th Administration to the 7th Administration. It was a time when the Gauteng Provincial Treasury (GPT) consolidated efforts to deliver on the mandate of the previous term of government, while ensuring that plans were put in place and actions taken to realise the priorities of the 7th Administration for the benefit of the people of Gauteng. As part of the work to ensure sound management of finances, the department actualised the implementation of the enhanced GPG Revenue Strategy.

This is because own provincial revenue accounts for 5% of the overall Provincial Budget, but it plays a crucial role in ensuring that we continue to fund our priorities at the time when transfers from National Government are declining.
