Applicants are hereby invited to apply for the Medical Physicist Internship Programme in the Gauteng Department of Health for the 2024 intake.REQUIREMENTS: Honours degree in Medical Physics or (Honours in Physics with appropriate Medical Physics courses as stipulated in the HPCSA Medical Physics national curriculum). Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, be a highly motivated and methodical individual who pays attention to detail with exceptional standards for accuracy. Capable of taking the initiative for problem-solving and recognising the need for action.
DUTIES: The candidate will undergo internship training for a minimum of two (2) years as an intern medical physicist according at an HPCSA accredited training institutions within Gauteng Department of Health. The candidate is expected to take part in all quality control, quality assurance, dosimetry, commissioning, acceptance and radiation protection in the departments. The candidate will be required to rotate across Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Therapy departments and other related fields deemed necessary for training. The candidate will be trained and required to perform routine medical physics duties under supervision. The candidate will be required to conduct research and development work in any medical physics area. Exposure to departmental/interdepartmental committees and meetings. Perform any ad-hoc duties allocated by the seniors and manager.NOTE: Applications must be submitted on a new Z83 form (obtainable from any Public Service Department or on www.dpsa.gov.za/ documents) with an updated, clear and concise CV., with 3 contactable referees. Copies of ID and Qualifications are to be attached. Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents on or before the day of the interview. Suitable candidates will be subjected to personnel suitability checks (criminal record check, citizenship verification, qualification/study verification and previous employment verification), a security clearance process, and a medical screening test. Suitable candidates will have to disclose their financial interests. The Department of Health reserves the right to fill or not fill the position.
