​The Gauteng Department of Health wishes to inform the public 
that the following groups are entitled to free health services at 
any public health establishment, irrespective of their nationality 
and documentation status. 
• All pregnant women 
• All women who are lactating (breast-feeding) 
• All children below the age of six (6) 
The public should note that this does not apply to people who 
are members or beneficiaries of medical aid schemes or have 
come to South Africa for the specific purpose of obtaining health 
care.
